Dear friends,
Yesterday evening there was a brother at the Bible School I go to in Wandsworth, Mark, who had come for the first time, and who has the most amazing testimony.
An alcoholic and drug addict for over 20 years, he was then sentenced to three and a half years in prison for dealing.
Every Sunday, one of the Prison Officers shouted, “Who’s going to the C of E service?” Mark never did, until one day, the same Prison Officer said to him, “You’re going to the C of E Service!”
Mark said he walked into the prison chapel, and immediately felt a tangible and very peaceful Presence. As the service continued, the Lord began to minister to him; his heaviness was lifted and he began to be cleansed.
The Chaplain gave him a tiny Bible, which he read avidly. The Lord spoke to him as he read, and, repenting of his old lifestyle and his many sins, he turned to the Lord as his Saviour.
Mark has now been out of prison for six months. He goes to a Baptist church in Streatham, and is part of a group of evangelists sharing the Gospel on the South Bank.
His addictions to alcohol and drugs are completely gone. He knows the Lord has delivered him; he said he’d done AA and NA courses in the past, but the addictions remained. They destroyed him and his family and friends.
His family now have him back and he is a new creation. His family and friends see the change in him and know Who’s brought it about. His mum says she’s got her son back, the prodigal returned!
After his encounter with the Lord at the C of E service at the prison, everyone - officers, fellow prisoners, visitors - noticed the change in Mark. “You’re being transformed before our very eyes!” one Officer remarked.
And he surely is; from one degree of glory to another!
In Him,
Sally
Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
