REUTERS STATE THAT NORTH KOREA ORDERS ARTILLERY TO BE COMBAT READY TO TARGET AMERICAN BASES!

SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea said on Tuesday its strategic rocket and long-range artillery units have been ordered to be combat ready, targeting U.S. military bases on Guam, Hawaii and mainland America after U.S. bombers flew sorties threatening the North.
The order, issued in a statement from the North's military "supreme command", marks the latest fiery rhetoric from Pyongyang since the start of joint military drills by U.S. and South Korean forces early this month.
South Korea's defense ministry said it saw no sign of imminent military action by North Korea.
"From this moment, the Supreme Command of the Korean People's Army will be putting into combat duty posture No. 1 all field artillery units, including long-range artillery units and strategic rocket units, that will target all enemy objects in U.S. invasionary bases on its mainland, Hawaii and Guam," the North's KCNA news agency said.
The North previously threatened nuclear attack on the United States and South Korea, although it is not believed to have the capability to hit the continental United States with an atomic weapon. But the U.S. military's bases in the Pacific area are in range of its medium-range missiles.
South Korea's defense ministry said it had detected no signs of unusual activity by the North's military but will monitor the situation. The South and the U.S. military are conducting drills until the end of April, which they have stressed are strictly defensive in nature.
The North has previously threatened to strike back at the U.S. military accusing Washington of war preparations by using B-52 bombers which have flown over the Korean peninsula as part of the drills.
North Korea has said it has abrogated an armistice that ended the 1950-53 Korean War and threatened a nuclear attack on the United States.

OBAMA WILL NOW USE THE ARAB LEAGUE AS HE SEEKS TO GATHER MORE MOMENTUM TO PUT ISRAEL UNDER MORE PRESSURE RE PEACE TALKS!!

Washington to pull in Arab League for Israel peace talks

Yasser Abed-Rabbo, secretary general of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO), said a delegation from the Arab League would visit Washington as part of the effort. He did not specify dates.
Mr Obama's visit to the West Bank, Israel and Jordan last week inspired little hope among Palestinians for a resumption of talks, which broke off in 2010 over Israel's refusal to stop constructing housing for Jewish settlers in East Jerusalem and the West Bank.
The renewed involvement of Arab countries in a push for talks, however, could bolster Palestinian confidence over rejoining a Washington-sponsored peace process they resent as biased in favour of Israel.
"US efforts will increase in coming weeks and will include other Arab parties, such as Jordan and Egypt," Mr Abed-Rabbo said yesterday.
Arab leaders were expected to discuss the peace process at an Arab League summit starting today in Doha.
At the 2002 summit of Arab heads of state in Beirut, the League adopted the Arab Peace Initiative, a Saudi-inspired peace plan for the Arab-Israeli conflict.
The initiative offered full normalisation of relations with Israel. In exchange, Israel was required to withdraw from all occupied territories, including the Golan Heights, to recognise Palestinian independence in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, with East Jerusalem as its capital, as well as a "just solution" for the Palestinian refugees.
Reiterating a long-standing Palestinian demand on Sunday, Saeb Erekat, the chief peace negotiator, ruled out joining Israel at the negotiating table without a total freeze on settlement activity.
During a press conference last week in Ramallah with the Palestinian Authority president, Mahmoud Abbas, Mr Obama said a cessation of Israeli housing in the West Bank should not be a prerequisite for the resumption of talks.
Mr Abed-Rabbo criticised that position yesterday, saying that without a freeze on settlement building, Palestinians feared getting bogged down in a "bargaining process over details" that would offer Israel cover for expanding settlements on territories wanted for a Palestinian state.
"For us, the important thing is the substance, such as the full settlement freeze and the recognition of the 1967 borders," Mr Abed-Rabbo said, referring to Israel's borders that prevailed before the 1967 Arab-Israeli war.
Mr Obama has designated his secretary of state, John Kerry, to find some common ground between Israelis and Palestinians that could serve as a basis for restarting talks.
After meeting separately with Mr Abbas and Israel's prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, on Sunday, Mr Kerry described the discussions as "useful".
Mr Netanyahu's office yesterday announced that Israel would resume handing over tax revenues collected on behalf of Palestinians, an issue that Mr Kerry has been pushing for since taking office last month.
Israel stopped the monthly payments of about US$100 million (Dh367m) in December as punishment for Palestinians obtaining upgraded observer status at the United Nations.
Some Palestinians are pessimistic about Arab state involvement in US peacemaking efforts. "Are any of these countries in a position to stop Israeli colonisation? I certainly don't think so," said one PLO official, citing Egypt's domestic troubles and Jordan's firm ties with Washington.
An aide to Mr Abbas said the Palestinian leader would wait to hear out the Obama administration's proposals for resuming talks. But doubts persisted over whether the US president would want to spend the political capital necessary to pressure Israel to halt settlement construction.
"He has plenty of domestic issues on his plate, so we're not hopeful," the aide said.
He would not comment on whether Mr Abbas had plans to bring war-crimes allegations against Israel to the International Criminal Court, which Mr Abed-Rabbo threatened in January.

WHY ISRAEL MADE A BIG MISTAKE IN APOLOGISING TO TURKEY, AND WHY THEY NOW HAVE TO SUFFER HUMILIATION AND MOCKERY, AS WELL AS ALL OF THE OTHER CONSEQUENCES!!

The Meaning and Consequences of Israel’s Apology to Turkey

US President Barack Obama was on the line when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to apologize for the deaths of nine Turkish protesters aboard the Turkish ship Mavi Marmara on May 31, 2010.
For those who don’t remember, the Mavi Marmara was a Turkish ship that set sail in a bid to break Israel’s lawful maritime blockade of Hamas-controlled Gaza’s coastline. When Israeli naval commandos boarded the ship to interdict it, passengers on deck attacked them – in breach of international maritime law. Soldiers were stabbed, bludgeoned and thrown overboard. In a misguided attempt to show the good faith of Israeli actions, the naval commandos were sent aboard the ship armed with paintball guns. As a consequence, the soldiers were hard-pressed to defend themselves. In the hand-to-hand combat that ensued, nine of the Turkish attackers were killed.

The Mavi Marmara was an eminently predictable fight. The Turkish group that hired the boat was an al-Qaeda-affiliated Turkish NGO named IHH. In 1999, the Turkish government was so wary of IHH that it barred the group from participating in relief efforts following a devastating earthquake.
IHH’s fortunes shifted with the rise of its fellow Islamists in the AKP Justice and Development Party led by Recep Tayip Erdogan. The AKP won the 2002 elections and has since been reelected twice.
By 2010, Prime Minster Erdogan had a long track record of anti-Israel actions. Indeed, by 2010, Erdogan had effectively destroyed the strategic alliance Israel had developed with Turkey since 1949. In 2006, Erdogan was the first major international leader and NATO member to host Hamas terror chief Ismail Haniyeh. The same year he allowed Iran to use Turkish territory to transfer weaponry to Hezbollah during the Second Lebanon War.
In 2008, Erdogan openly sided with Hamas against Israel in Operation Cast Lead. In 2009, he called President Shimon Peres a murderer to his face.
By the time the flotilla to Gaza was organized, Erdogan had used Turkey’s position as a NATO member to effectively end the US-led alliance’s cooperative relationship with Israel, by refusing to participate in military exercises with Israel.
Following the incident, rather than apologize for his allied NGO’s gross violation of international maritime law and acts of wanton aggression against Israeli forces, Erdogan doubled down. He removed Turkey’s ambassador from Israel. He demanded an apology as a condition for the restoration of relations. He had his court system open show trials against IDF soldiers and commanders. He stepped up his exploitation of Turkey’s NATO membership to block substantive military cooperation between Israel and NATO. And he cultivated close economic and political ties with Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood.
At the same time, Erdogan has cultivated close ties with President Barack Obama and his administration, and has spent millions of dollars on lobbying efforts on Capitol Hill to neutralize congressional opposition to his hostile behavior towards Israel and the US.
For three years Israel refused to apologize to Turkey. And then Obama came to Israel for a visit, and before he left the country, he had Netanyahu on the phone with Erdogan, apologizing for the loss of life of the Turkish protesters who stabbed and bludgeoned Israeli soldiers. Netanyahu also offered restitution to their families.
Israeli President Shimon Peres sought to silence the public outcry in Israel against Netanyahu’s action by soothingly saying that it was done to bury the past and move on to a better day in relations with Turkey. IDF Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz publicly backed Netanyahu’s actions, saying it was necessary to cultivate Turkish cooperation for dealing with the situation in Syria, which is rapidly spiraling out of control. Israeli and international concerns that all or parts of Syria’s massive arsenal of chemical and biological weapons, as well as its ballistic missiles, will fall into the hands of jihadist forces have risen as jihadists, allied with al-Qaeda, have come to dominate the opposition to the Syrian regime.
Israel’s own concerns regarding the civil war in Syria have also escalated as rebel forces – affiliated with al-Qaeda — have taken over sections of the border region. UN observer forces deployed along Israel’s border with Syria since 1974 have been fleeing in droves, for Israel and Jordan. Earlier in the month, rebel forces took dozens of observer forces from the Philippines hostage for several days.

Given the situation, the main questions that arise from Israel’s apology to Turkey are as follows: Is it truly a declaration with little intrinsic meaning, as Peres intimated? Should it simply be viewed as a means of overcoming a technical block to renewing Israel’s strategic alliance with Turkey? In other words, will the apology facilitate Turkish cooperation in stemming the rise of jihadist forces in Syria, and blocking the transfer of chemical and biological weapons and ballistic missiles to such actors? Finally, what does Obama’s central role in producing Israel’s apology say about his relationship with the Jewish state and the consequences of his visit on Israel’s alliance with the US and its position in the region? And finally, what steps should Israel consider in light of these consequences?
On Saturday, the Arab League convened in Doha, Qatar and discussed Israel’s apology to Turkey and its ramifications for pan-Arab policy. The Arab League member states considered the prospect of demanding similar apologies for its military operations in Lebanon, Judea, Samaria and Gaza.
The Arab League’s discussions point to the true ramifications of the apology for Israel. By apologizing for responding lawfully to unlawful aggression against the State of Israel and its armed forces, Israel did two things. First, Israel humiliated itself and its soldiers, and so projected an image of profound weakness. Due to this projected image, Israel has opened itself up to further demands for it to apologize for its other responses to acts of unlawful war and aggression against the state, its territory and its citizens from other aggressors. The Arab League like most of its member nations is in an official state of war with Israel. The Arabs wish to see Israel destroyed. Kicking a nation when it is down is a perfectly rational way for states that wish other states ill to behave. And so the Arab League’s action was eminently predictable.
As for the future of Israel-Turkish cooperation on Syria, two things must be borne in mind. First, on Saturday Erdogan claimed that Netanyahu’s apology was insufficient to restore Turkish-Israel relations. He claimed that before he could take any concrete actions to restore relations, Israel would first have to compensate the families of the passengers from the Mavi Marmara killed while assaulting IDF soldiers with deadly force.

Beyond that, it is far from clear that Turkey shares Israel’s interests in preventing the rise of a jihadist regime in Syria allied with al-Qaeda. More than any other actor, Erdogan has played a central role in enabling the early jihadist penetration and domination of the ranks of the US-supported Syrian opposition forces. It is far from clear that the man who enabled these jihadists to rise to power shares Israel’s interest in preventing them from seizing Syria’s weapons of mass destruction. Moreover, if Turkey does share Israel’s interest in preventing the Syrian opposition from taking control over the said arsenals, it would cooperate with Israel in accomplishing this goal with or without an Israeli apology for its takeover of the Mavi Marmara.
So if interests, rather than sentiments dictate Turkey’s actions on Syria, as they dictate the interests of the Arab League in kicking Israel when it is perceived as being down, what does Obama’s central role in compelling Israel to apologize to Turkey tell us about his attitude towards Israel and how his attitude towards Israel is perceived by Israel’s neighbors, including Iran?

By forcing Israel to apologize to Turkey, Obama effectively forced Israel to acknowledge that it is in the wrong for lawful actions by its military taken in defense of international law and of Israel’s national security. That is, Obama sided with the aggressor – Turkey – over the victim – Israel. And in so doing, he signaled, deliberately or inadvertently, to the rest of Israel’s neighbors that the US is no longer siding with Israel in regional disputes. As a consequence, they now feel that it is reasonable for them to press their advantage and demand further Israeli apologies for daring to defend itself from their aggression.
Whether or not Obama meant to send this message, this is a direct consequence of his visit. Now Israel needs to consider its options for moving forward. For Israel’s allies in Congress, it is important to take a strong position on the issue. Members of Congress and Senate would do well to pass resolutions stating their conviction that Israel, while within its own rights to apologize, operated with reasonable force and wholly in accordance with international law in its interdiction of the Mavi Marmara, which was on an illegal voyage to provide aid and comfort for an internationally recognized terrorist organization in contravention of binding UN Security Council resolution 1379 from September 2001, which prohibits the proffering of such aid. Congress should enjoin the administration to issue a declaration noting US support for Israel in its actions to defend itself from aggression in all forms, including from Hamas-controlled Gaza.

Second, Israel should scale back the level of military assistance it receives from the US. While Obama was in Israel, he pledged to expand US military assistance to Israel in the coming years. By unilaterally scaling back US assistance and developing its domestic military industries, Israel would send a strong signal to its neighbors that it is not completely dependent on the US and as a consequence, the level of US support for Israel does not determine Israel’s capacity to continue to defend itself. On a wider level, it is important for Israel to develop the means to end its dependency on the US. Under Obama, despite the support of the great majority of the public, the US has become an undependable ally to Israel, and indeed to the rest of the US’s allies as well. The more quickly Israel can minimize its dependence, the better it will be for Israel, for the US and for the stability of the region. The apology to Turkey was a strategic error. To minimize its consequences, Israel must boldly assert its interests in Syria, Iran, and throughout the region.

ICELAND AGAIN IN TROUBLE FROM EARTHQUAKES AND VOLCANOES!

LONDON -- Icelandic police say seismic activity near the Hekla volcano has prompted them to declare an "uncertainty phase" -- the lowest level of civil warning.
Monitoring of the area in southern Iceland has been increased. Police advise people not to hike in the area, though it is not forbidden.
Vidir Reynisson, the department manager for civil protection, said Tuesday that a swarm of earthquakes prompted the warning but are not necessarily a sign of pending eruption. Scientists worry that Hekla is overdue for an eruption; in recent decades it has erupted roughly every 10 years, most recently in 2000.
Concern about seismic activity in the north Atlantic nation has grown since April 2010, when ash from the Eyjafjallajokul volcano grounded flights across Europe for days, disrupting travel for 10 million people.

THE CRAZY MONTH OF MARCH! WHAT ON EARTH IS HAPPENING?

God, the Bible, sinkholes, fireball meteors, and snowy March 2013 weather buzz (Photos)

It's no wonder that Alexa.com tracks an article titled "Hand of God in Weather" on Weather.com as one of the most popular articles at the moment. What, with snow covering large parts of the U.S. this close to April and unseasonal weather hitting as far as the U.K., people are wondering what's going on.
There are sinkholes and fireball meteors that have people searching and commenting beneath YouTube videos of the latest phenomenon if these oddities don't seem to be recurring in more frequent fashion, even while scientists claim they are all normal, and that we've only been made more away of them due to news coverage of "close calls" like the Russian meteor.
A steady gainer is the Examiner piece titled "California fireball, Russian meteor, 2013 asteroid: God's end of world warning?" -- having garnered nearly 5,000 page views alone last month, according to Google Analytics.
Indeed, people are wondering what these seemingly frequent sinkhole occurrences have to do with God and the Bible, so that's where this reporter turned. The word "sinkhole" itself couldn't be found in Scripture, however, incidences of sinkhole like instances can be found by searching "earth opened" site:bible.cc in Google.
That turns up various instances whereby the "earth swallowed" up evil men, or a Revelation passage wherein the "…the earth helped the woman by opening its mouth and swallowing the river that the dragon had spewed out of his mouth."
Meteors, on the other hand, are mostly mentioned in biblical commentary -- ones that state the fireballs or "falling stars," as they were sometimes called, denoted a sign of evil times in the Bible.
Of course some of the most popular remembrances of meteors falling from the sky and fireballs hitting the earth in the Bible are during the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah -- "Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire…" -- but also in the New Testament, during the passages about the signs of Christ's return:
"But immediately after the tribulation of those days THE SUN WILL BE DARKENED, AND THE MOON WILL NOT GIVE ITS LIGHT, AND THE STARS WILL FALL from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken," reads Matthew 24:29.
So it is interesting stuff, and the signs in the sky -- as well as searchers' interest on the web -- shows that people are not only looking at the changes in weather with a curious eye, but also a spiritual one.

COULD THE MUSLIMS REALLY SANCTION THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE THIRD TEMPLE IN JERUSALEM?

Possible Muslim Approval Of Third Temple Construction

As reported in The Jewish Press on March 14, 2013, there is a new call for something previously unthinkable. Sinem Tezyapar, a Muslim TV producer in Turkey, has called for the rebuilding of the “Prophet Solomon’s” Temple.

She assures her fellow Muslims that they need not be nervous because:

“There is a broad expanse of land around the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock. The land there is quite convenient in that respect, and the Temple can be placed just a little way from Qubbat As-Sakhrah, and a little ahead of Masjid el-Aqsa.”

There are overtones of wanting peace and togetherness with the Jewish people in her statements as well. This is a very interesting development and would be easy to dismiss as just one secular Muslim’s simplistic idea. Unfortunately, the fact that she is a woman in the Muslim world makes the idea even less feasible.

However, this is not the first time this idea has come from the lips of a Muslim. According to an article in Word Net Daily, an influential Muslim leader by the name of Adnan Oktar in Turkey is described as making the same proposal, to rebuild the Jewish Temple, calling it the “Palace of Solomon.”

The Jewish people have longed for their Temple to be rebuilt. In an article about the rebuilding of the Temple, Hassidic writer and publisher Mordechai Housman, describes the first and primary obstacle as being political, and second being safety reasons due to Muslims.

If a significant Muslim leader would declare that Solomon’s Temple should be rebuilt, then if the Muslim community would follow, it is likely the Jewish people would jump at the opportunity and be able to overcome whatever ceremonial obstacles also lie in the path.

This is very significant prophetically, because the Jewish Temple must be standing at the mid-point of the time period commonly known as the Tribulation. The Apostles John and Paul, the Prophet Daniel, and Jesus Himself make references to this Temple standing.

Daniel 9:27a says:

“And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease.” (KJV)

The “he” spoken of here is the coming world leader, known as the Antichrist. The “one week” is the seven years of the Tribulation period.

In Matthew 24:15–16, Jesus references this very passage:

“When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:” (KJV)

This “Abomination of Desolation” is set up in the Most Holy Place, which is well known to be the Holy of Holies in the Jewish Temple. Thus this Temple must be standing in order for the “Abomination of Desolation” to happen.

Paul writes in 2 Thessalonians 2:3–4:

“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.” (KJV)

Here also is a reference to the Antichrist (the man of sin) declaring himself God inside the Temple of God. This also is the Jewish Temple.

In Revelation 11:1–2, John tells us:

“And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein. But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.” (KJV)

Forty-two months is also equivalent to half of seven years. In other words, the Temple which John refers to is standing, not only in the middle of the Tribulation, but it has been standing for the entire first part of the Tribulation.

There are several big milestones that students of prophecy are waiting for. One of those is the construction of the Third Jewish Temple for it does indeed seem to be a prerequisite to the beginning of the Tribulation period.

If not a prerequisite, then it does definitely need to be standing by the midpoint of the Tribulation. With hints that the Muslim world might be agreeable to its construction, it would seem this particular milestone might be nearer than many think.

"THE TIMES OF ISRAEL" REPORT OF FERTILE SWARMS OF LOCUSTS ARRIVING ON EVE OF THE PASSOVER!

Fertile locusts swarm into Israel on Passover eve

Arriving with Biblically resonant timing, latest arrivals are ready to reproduce

A TV reporter holds up one of the yellow locusts that landed in southern Israel on Sunday (photo credit: image capture from Channel 2).
A day before Passover, farmers in southern Israel were suffering from another plague of locusts, entering the country from Egypt with biblical timing.
The pests hit fields and greenhouses in the south; the Agriculture Ministry was working to prevent heavy damage to crops in the Negev and stop the insects from penetrating deeper into the country.

Unlike previous swarms that have entered Israel in the past month, the locusts that hit Israel Sunday are yellow and fertile and, in this stage of their metamorphosis, pose less risk to crops because they eat significantly less. Once the insects lay eggs and they hatch, however, Israeli farmers will face the threat of this wave’s insatiable brood, who will eat anything green in their path.
The new swarm hit Israel on the eve of the Passover festival, which marks the Israelites redemption from slavery in ancient Egypt, achieved after Egypt’s Pharaoh was hit by 10 divinely ordered plagues — the eighth of which was locusts.

At the start of the month the ministry launched a major crop-dusting campaign to combat earlier swarms.
The ministry said at the time it feared warm weather would see additional locusts cross the border from the Sinai Peninsula, fears that were realized on Sunday.
In Egypt swarms of locusts, numbering hundreds of millions of insects, have recently been spotted over the Sinai, east of El Arish. Authorities there were facing difficulties eradicating the pests due to a failure in one of the main water pipes to the city.

LATEST EXCELLENT SUMMARY FROM THE DEBKA FILE EXCLUSIVES!

Summary of DEBKA Exclusives, March 22, 2013

March 15, 2013 Briefs:

•    US to deploy 14 extra interceptors against NKorean – not Iranian - missiles
The US will deploy 14 additional ground-based missile interceptors in Alaska and California following a North Korean threat of a preemptive missile strike against America. DEBKAfile: Although Obama admitted Thursday that Iran could achieve a nuclear weapon within a year, he last year dismantled the European segment of the US missile shield against Iran although it was part of the US defense system protecting Israel.
•    Ten Palestinians detained for highway stone-throwing
An Israeli mother and her three small daughters – aged 6, 4 and 2 - were badly injured when rocks thrown at Highway 5 traffic near Ariel Thursday night caused their car to swerve and crash into a truck. The youngest child aged 2 was still fighting for her life Friday, 10 suspects were detained in raids of two Palestinian villages southeast of Qalqilya. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has ordered a crackdown on the stone-throwers plaguing West Bank road traffic for sometime.

March 16, 2013 Briefs:

Jordan: At least 15 killed in bus crash
Most of the 15 dead and up to 20 wounded were Palestinian pilgrims on their way back from Mecca to the West Bank.

France, UK flout US on arms to Syrian rebels
DEBKAfile Special Report
16 March. Britain and France have for the first time parted ways with the US policy against sending Western arms to Syrian rebels fighting Bashar Assad. As the EU summit in Brussels voted March 14 against their motion to lift the Syrian arms embargo, DEBKAfile reveals that Jordan’s top soldier arrived in Brussels to discuss shipping British arms through his country – and to which rebel groups. France’s Francois Hollande evened the score for Barack Obama’s lack of military support for his Mali expedition. Even so, the EU voted against the UK-French motion.

March 17, 2013 Briefs:

•    Iran launches home-made destroyer in Caspian Sea
The Jamaran 2 1420-ton destroyer, powered by a 20000-horsepower engine, with a speed of 30 knots, able to carry helicopters, both guided surface to surface and surface to air missiles and torpedoes, was launched in the northern port of Bandar Anzali Sunday.
•    Gilead Erdan takes Homeland Defense Ministry
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is lining up members of his own Likud-Israel Beitenu for jobs in his new cabinet before it is sworn in Monday. Former Environment Minister in the last cabinet has been appointed Homeland Defense and Communications Minister responsible also for the Broadcasting Authority.
•    Turkey, Kurdish PKK close to ceasefire
Deputy PM Bulent Arinc said Friday that if peace talks between the Ankara government and the imprisoned PKK Kurdish separatis leader Abdullah Ocalan continue to make progress, it is very likely that a ceasefire in the long conflict will be announced as soon as March 21.

Netanyahu’s new government – a test of survival
DEBKAfile Special Report
17 March. Binyamin Netanyahu’s third government gets down to its first order of business Tuesday, March 19. Does anyone know what that business is? No, because each of the four components of this roughly welded coalition government has its own well-defined political, social, economic and religious agenda. Melding them all into agreed guidelines for action is obviously a Herculean - or even an impossible - task, which is why some top people in Jerusalem are betting that it won’t survive its first year.
Moshe Yaalon as new defense minister plans to redesign the IDF as a national army better suited to the exigencies of the 21st century and the wars of the future.
The former TV anchor Yair Lapid (Yesh Atid – Future) has made his political debut with a leap to the top government echelon as finance minister. He campaigned loudly for military service for all, including the ultra-Orthodox and Israeli Arabs and benefits for the middle class. Now he must sit down to draft a state budget with heavy spending cuts at top speed.
Former Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, came in from the political cold to join the government as Justice Minister claiming that all she really wanted was to promote and lead peace talks with the Palestinians. She is strongly opposed by Naftali Bennett, who revived the fortunes of the veteran National Religious Party by repackaging it as the pro-settlement Habayit Hayehudi (the Jewish Home).

Tehran: All our options on the table if attacked. Go home, Obama!
DEBKAfile Special Report
17 March. Two messages wee addressed to President Barack Obama by Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brig. Gen. Massoud Jazayeri: 1 “Our commanders have been authorized to respond to any kind of hostile move by the enemy.” DEBKAfile notes that Iranian officers are also deployed in Syria and Lebanon. 2. And a mocking “Mr Obama, make no mistake. We too have all our options on the table. Before you get deeper in the region’s quagmire, go back home!”
Iranian officials are behaving exactly like their North Korean partners – with threats for any statements they don’t like.

March 18, 2013 Briefs:

•    New Israeli government’s guidelines endorsed
The Knesset voted by a majority of 68 to approve and 38 against the program Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu presented for his third government at the parliamentary ceremony Monday for the swearing in of the 22 new ministers: "The new government's first priority is to defend the security of the country and its citizens," he said. The ultra-Orthodox factions, excluded for the first time for government, walked out in protest when Netanyahu rose to speak.
•    Israeli injured in Palestinian drive-by shooting
Fire was opened from a Palestinian vehicle against an 71-year old Israeli man waiting for a lift outside Kedummim, north of Ramallah Monday. He was hit in the leg. Security forces are hunting the Palestinian car and shooters.

Two more Likudniks get high-sounding ministerial jobs
18 March. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu added the last two ministerial posts to his cabinet lineup for presentation to and swearing-in before the Knesset Monday afternoon. Silvan Shalom gets Electricity, Water, Negev, Galilee and a seat on team for Palestinian negotiations; Yuval Steinetz (former Finance Minister) – Strategic affairs, responsibility for the Strategic Dialogue with Washington (instead of Gilead Erdan), Intelligence, strengthening the secret services, relations with the UN, and chair of the National Nuclear Energy Commission.
All in all, Netanyahu keeps hand on levers of security, foreign relations, energy.
The West Bank Settlement lobby is strongly represented at key points in government.

Assad to Beirut: Sack Lebanese army chief or more air raids. Jordan feared next
DEBKAfile Special Report
18 March. The Syrian conflict spread in earnest Monday, March 18, when the Syrian Air Force performed bombing runs over Syrian rebel jumping-off bases inside Lebanon and border valleys used for smuggling men and arms into Syria. DEBKAfile reports exclusively: Saturday, Syrian ruler Bashar Assad gave Lebanese President Michel Suleiman 48 hours to sack his chief of staff and expel Syrian rebels from his country – or else face air attack. The ultimatum expired Monday. Lebanon is probably in for expanding Syria air operations against its territory in the coming days.

March 19, 2013 Briefs:
•    More than 56 dead in Baghdad terrorist attacks
A string of coordinated suicide attacks and car bombs in the Shiite suburbs of Baghdad Tuesday have left more than 50 dead and 160 injured. DEBKAfile: The Sunni-Shiite conflict is spilling over with increased force into Iraq after the Syrian Air Force bombed Sunni targets in another of its neighbors, Lebanon, on Monday.

Syria gears up for chemical warfare
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report
19 March. Assad is preparing for a chemical attack on rebel forces in Homs, say Western intelligence to DEBKAfile Tuesday, March 19, to save himself from a defeat there during US President Barack Obama’s visit to the region. Damascus apparently set the scene by accusing Syrian rebels of firing a chemical rocket in Aleppo and killing 15 people. Rebels denied this report and charged the regime with delivering a chemical weapon by Scud, from which 20 people died of asphyxia and poisoning. Neither claim was independently verified.

March 20, 2013 Briefs:

•    Obama in Jerusalem: A chemical attack in Syria would be a game-changer
US President Barack Obama said he had ordered a thorough inquiry into the reported use of chemical weapons in Syria on Tuesday. “When you let that genie out of the bottle - a weapon that can cause mass devastation and death - you have to act on the information. I would be deeply skeptical of any claim that the Syrian opposition used chemical weapons.”
Obama and Binyamin Netayahu addressed a news conference after their talks on the first day of his three-day visit to Israel.
US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel will pay his first visit Israel next month. He reported this to Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon when they exchanged congratulations over their new appointments and promised to strengthen cooperation in light of common challenges in the Middle East.

Obama, Netanyahu divided on Iran, Syria
DEBKAfile Special Report
20 March. President Barack Obama was greeted on his arrival in Israel midday Wednesday, March 20 with unprecedented ceremonial honors and fanfare. However, the omens augured major differences with his hosts. In the 48 hours before his arrival in Israel, Syria for the first time bombed targets inside Lebanon and fired a chemical warhead at Aleppo. While Israel is acutely concerned by this escalation just across its frontiers, the Obama administration withheld a practical response. They are also divided on the handling of Iran’s nuclear program, accusing the US of allowing Iran to advance on his track toward two types of nuclear bombs, one fueled by enriched uranium and the other by plutonium.

DEBKAfile:  Agent 15 “choking gas” used lethally in Aleppo
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report
20 March. DEBKAfile reports from western military sources that present in the rocket which exploded in the Aleppo neighborhood of Khan al-Assal Tuesday March 19 were phosphorus, chlorine and Agent 15 or BZ. Although the Assad regime and the Syrian rebels charged each other with firing the rocket, which killed 15-31 people and injured more than a hundred, it was not possible to verify which side was responsible. The White House denied it was the rebels, while Moscow backed Damascus by insisting that it was.

March 21, 2013 Briefs:

•    Suicide bomber kills senior pro-Assad cleric in Damascus mosque
Syrian TV reports Sheikh Mohammed Said Ramadan al-Buti was killed in an explosion caused by a suicide bomber in the Iman Mosque in the central Mazraa district of Damascus Thursday. At least 20 people died in the attack.
•    Obama speech cheered on warm ties, heckled on Palestinians
Visiting US President Barack Obama, addressing Israel students in Jerusalem, said politicians don’t take risks unless urged by their people. His audience rose and cheered him when he said Israel has the right to exist and is not going anywhere. You are not alone, he said in Hebrew; America is Israel’s greatest friend. America will do what it must to prevent a nuclear Iran, he said. But shouts of protest were heard amid the applause when he called for peace and justice for the Palestinians and declared there would be no security for Israel without peace.
•    Khamenei: Iran will destroy Tel Aviv, Haifa if attacked
"At times the officials of the Zionist regime (Israel) threaten to launch a military invasion but they themselves know that if they make the slightest mistake the Islamic Republic will raze Tel Aviv and Haifa to the ground," Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in an address Thursday as US President Barack Obama was addressing Israeli students in Jerusalem.
•    Russian fleet abandons Tartus, docks in Beirut
Moscow issued a confused statement Thursday, reflecting uncertainty about the situation in Syria: “The escalating conflict in Syria and [doubts] about the entry of Russian ships into the port of Tartus forced us to search for safer ports [for docking], and one of them is Beirut. Tartus continues to be the only official [facility] for Russian ships [in the Mediterranean].” The statement went on to say: “Once events in Syria become more predictable, we will be able to [come to] a position on continuing the use of Tartus.”
•    Obama in Ramallah: We will not give up on two states
After his talks in Ramallah Thursday with Palestinian leaders, US President Barack Obama reiterated his pledge not to give up on efforts to establish an independent Palestinian state alongside the state of Israel. It may take time, he said, but in the end, it will happen.
•    Four Gaza rockets hit Sderot as Obama visits Israel
Two of the rockets fired from Gaza early Thursday landed in the town, one in the backyard of a home causing damage to property but no casualties immediately reported.

March 22, 2013 Briefs:

•    US President ends Israel visit, flies to Amman
US President Barack Obama rounded off his three-day visit to Israel Friday afternoon with a last meeting with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and a formal leave taking ceremony. They held a fourth unscheduled conversation at Ben Gurion Airport when the prime minister and president Peres saw him off. Amman is Obama’s last stop on his current trip for talks with King Abdullah on the Syrian crisis and reactivating the Israel-Palestinian peace process. John Kerry who accompanied the president will return to Jerusalem Saturday night with a report for Prime Minister Netanyahu.

Obama, Netanyahu grant Iran another three months’ grace
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report
22 March. President Barack Obama persuaded Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in their talks in Jerusalem this week to give Tehran three more months to work through nuclear diplomacy with the P5+1 group of world powers, DEBKAfile discloses. This grace period expires after Iran’s June 24 presidential election, although military action against its nuclear sites may not necessarily follow the next day. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, however, warned Thursday, March 21, that if attacked, “the Islamic Republic will raze Tel Aviv and Haifa to the ground.”

RELIGIOUS WITCHCRAFT AT THE INAUGURATION OF THE NEW ARCHBISHOP OF CANTERBURY!!

Please see below images of the wild shamanic dancers who preceded the new Archbishop Welby at his official inauguration this week.

I have already commented on this on my facebook page, but I felt it necessary to add to this to my blog also.

Here's a peek at the dancers preceding the new archbishop in the ceremonial walk into the cathedral.

I'm watching the enthronement of the Archbishop of Canterbury on BBC news. I came in on a bunch of African witch doctors with their paint and feathers and drums doing a spirit-dance in front of the procession of the new archbishop walking down the aisle of the big cathedral. They pan to the clergy of all kinds - all in clerical garb that no doubt gags anyone who knows Jesus.

The new Church of England leader of course paid tribute to Pope Francis during his speech. As they started their ritual, various people dressed in their local primitive garb bring tributes, laying things on the altar like a woman who brought a pitcher of water, a man who looked like a shaman brought some sort of flat leather square with some sort of herbs and grasses upon it, while a turbaned guy brought some sort of container of who-knows-what - frankincense and myrrh maybe. What a despicable display of syncretistic religious witchcraft! Watch this blasphemy at the link below (Brian):

OUR DEAR BROTHER DAVID HOYLE IS VERY ILL. PLEASE JOIN US IN PRAYER FOR HIM THIS WEEKEND.

PRAYER for David Hoyle's Health.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I am asking you to join me in prayer for our dear brother David Hoyle some time between 9.00am and 10.00am and/or 2.00pm till 2.30 pm on Saturday  next, the 23rd of March. The afternoon prayer time will coincide with the opening prayers at the Truth and Light Fellowship in Newark at which I am speaking that day. Already a number of people have picked up the initial prayer request from my Blog.

David is having great difficulty shaking of a severe waterworks infection despite three treatments of anti-biotics. This is having a knock-on effect on the other conditions he is having treated and the awaiting surgery. The consequences for Agnes are also considerable and she needs our prayer support as she gallantly nurses and serves her husband at this difficult time

There is nothing "magic" about all praying together at the same time but it does serve as an aide memoir and an encouragement to our faith to pray in this organised way. May the the Lord be gracious to us and hear our cry.

With love in the Lord Jesus Christ,

Brian.

EVEN MORE NEWS ON RUSSIA PREPARING TO TAKE ON THE MIGHT OF THE USA!!!

Analyst: Russia Prepping Military To Fight The USA (From WND).

Washington, NATO seen as top global threats PutinObama

by F. Michael Maloof

WASHINGTON – The Russian military doctrine adopted in 2010 after the “reset” with the Obama administration considers the U.S. and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, or NATO, the main threats Moscow must be prepared to fight, according to Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin.
This is the assessment of Alexei Arbatov, a former Duma, or parliament, deputy and currently head of the Center for International Security of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Recent events have underscored the prospect due to the firing of Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov, who served under then-President Dmitry Medvedev, who now is the Russian prime minister.
Russian President Vladimir Putin replaced Serdyukov with Sergei Shoigu, who is more in line with Putin’s outlook on the future role and capabilities of the military.
Under Medvedev, Serdyukov had a different approach, which was to more closely work with the West in an effort to obtain Western technologies and know-how to modernize not only Russian infrastructure but also the military.
All of that went away with Putin’s more confrontational approach with the U.S. and his efforts to blunt American nfluence in Central Asia, which Moscow claims is in its sphere of influence.
Putin also aims to recreate a post-Soviet empire by incorporating the former Soviet republics into a Eurasian Union, a duty-free zone that he sees rivaling the European Union in years to come.

PLEASE PRAY FOR MY GOOD FRIEND DAVID HOYLE, WHO IS VERY ILL AT THE MOMENT.

Dear friends,

Please pray for my good friend David Hoyle, who I have known for many, many years now, and who is very ill at present. Below is a lovely request from another good friend, Sally Richardson from London (Brian).

Hello Friends,

Our much-loved brother David Hoyle is not well at present; prayer for him and his dear wife Agnes would be much appreciated.

David is unable to see out of one eye and the sight of the other is not very good. He has had several operations, but they have not worked. He now has to wait two months before they will attempt another op.

He also has very severe bladder problems and is on antibiotics. He has been on them for a number of weeks, but with little effect so far.

This very special saint of the Lord is now over 80 years of age; despite all these health problems, he continues to be cheerful and is always looking to Jesus.

Thank you in anticipation of your prayers for him,

In Yeshua,

Sally

THE NEW YORK TIMES HAS CROSSED THE LINE THIS WEEKEND BY ENCOURAGING ATTACKS AGAINST THE JEWS TO START THE THIRD INTIFADA!!!

New York Times Encourages Attacks Against Jews

The New York Times has crossed the line this weekend by encouraging Palestinian Arabs to embark upon a “third intifada” against Israel with an article by Ben Ehrenreich titled “If There is a Third Intifada, We Want to be the Ones who Started It.” This article is tantamount to calling upon the Arabs to kill Jews.  Against the backdrop of Thursday’s rock attack where a two-year-old Israeli was severely injured with brain injuries when the car she was in veered off the road as a direct results of Arab youth throwing rocks, one wonders where is the decency of the NYT? Rock attacks have caused deaths and serious injuries on Israel’s roads for decades.
The New York Times Magazine celebrated the people who consider their rock attacks “non-violent,” defining them as “peaceful protestors.” Rock-throwers aren’t “peaceful” – anywhere in the world. To even allow Ehrenreich to write an article, rather than an op-ed shows the inherent bias of this outlet.

A few years ago, Ehrenreich wrote an article for The Los Angeles Times called “Zionism is the Problem” where he attacked “the Zionist tenets on which the state [of Israel] is founded.” He continued, “The problem is functional – Founding a modern state on a single ethnic or religious identity in a territory that is ethnically and religiously diverse leads inexorably either to politics of exclusion or to wholesale ethnic cleansing. Put simply, the problem is Zionism.” He continued, “If two decades ago comparisons to the South African apartheid system felt like hyperbole, they now feel charitable.”
He doesn’t believe in Zionism, considers Israel worse than apartheid South African – yet is writing a cover story for supposedly non-biased media. Israel is portrayed in this spiteful article as the superpower – rather than the underdog surrounded by Arab Muslims. One wonders what would happen if a group of teenagers threw rocks, boulders, and homemade explosive devices at police in the streets of London, Tokyo or New York. Would they not be shot by police, as they should be?
Why is it that in Israel the authorities are painted as the bad guys for enforcing the law against rock-throwers?
As CEO of a PR firm that works with worldwide media, I was outraged at Ehrenreich’s propaganda, which included the following:
“A framed image of Jerusalem’s Al Aqsa Mosque hung above the television (more out of nationalist pride than piety: Bassem’s outlook was thoroughly secular).”
Jerusalem is the center of Israel, the eternal capital of the Jewish people.  As Ehrenreich proves (yet doesn’t state), these so-called protestors want to destroy Israel “piece by piece.” They don’t want peace.
“Taking up arms wasn’t, for Bassem, a moral error so much as a strategic one. He and everyone else I spoke with in the village insisted they had the right to armed resistance.”
Taking up arms means blowing up buses of innocent Jews – and these people don’t condemn it.  As Israel has repeatedly said, there’s essentially no difference between Hamas and the PLO.  Their desire remains the destruction of the Jewish state.
“They formed what is known as the ‘popular resistance,’ a loosely coordinated effort that has maintained what has arguably been the only form of active and organized resistance to the Israeli presence in the West Bank since the end of the second intifada in 2005. ‘If there is a third intifada,’ he said, ‘we want to be the ones who started it.’”
Intifadas kill thousands and encourage violence.  As a spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces said, these protests are “violent and illegal rioting that take place around Judea and Samaria, and where large rocks, Molotov cocktails, improvised grenades and burning tires are used against security forces. Dubbing these simply demonstrations is an understatement[.]” The Times is simply encouraging this violence.
“It was strange, asymmetric combat: a few dozen masked shebab ranging in age from 8 to 38, armed with slings and stones, against 20 or more soldiers in armored vehicles and on foot, dressed in helmets and body armor, toting radios and automatic weapons. The shebab put a great deal of thought into tactics, trying to flank and surprise the soldiers.”
These words seem lifted from a Palestinian action book. Ben Ehrenreich and his socialist, atheist mother Barbara Ehrenreich live on the West Coast in the US – Why don’t they gather some friends and throw rocks at soldiers in the city of their choice out there?
“‘We see our stones as our message,’ Bassem explained. Yet, he ‘didn’t worry over whether stone-throwing counted as violence.’ Bassem said, ‘Our sign is the stone.’”
As the new Israeli Cabinet member Naftali Bennett said, “Rocks kill… Some people take rock throwing lightly, and prevent action against them. Rock throwers are trying to murder and they need to be treated accordingly.” Rock-throwers are indeed terrorists who should be treated as such in Israel – and everywhere else in the world.
Articles like Ehrenreich’s lead to Jews being killed. While the Arabs are masters of Public Relations they stage protests to damage Israel and continue to use violence against Israel.  They are brainwashing people and these words have grave consequences.
The Palestinian Arabs have massacred Jewish men, women and children before there was a state of Israel, and they don’t need the media to encourage them to continue to do so.  After all the pogroms, crusades, and the Holocaust, can’t the Jew just live without media encouraging attacks against them?

"THE END OF BARACK OBAMA" FROM THE DEBKA FILES!

DEBKAfile SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Dear Friends,

Here’s something I definitely recommend you check out…

Porter Stansberry is the founder of Stansberry Research.

And recently, Porter has done some fascinating research. He says there’s an approaching BIG event in America, which could entirely ruin Barack Obama’s Presidency.

Now I know at first glance this probably sounds a little outrageous.

But keep in mind, that’s exactly how many people felt a few years back, when Porter predicted the collapse of General Motors, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Ganett Newspapers, just to name a few.

The point is, Porter has a remarkable track record when it comes to this type of work.

So I strongly encourage you to at least take a quick look at the research he’s done. Because even if he’s only half right, this big event will have a dramatic impact not only on Barack Obama, but also you, me, and everyone else in this country.

We’ve posted Porter’s full analysis on our website. You can access it free of charge, here

Sincerely,

Joint US-led HQ to operate in Syria in chemical war contingency
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report
08 March. A new US-led contingency headquarters for joint US, Israel, Jordan and Turkey operations inside Syria will go into action if any or all these allies should come under chemical or biological attack. This was the upshot of the talks US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel held with visiting Israeli defense Minister Ehud Barak at the Pentagon Tuesday, March 5. Hagel forecast imminent chemical warfare in Syria spilling over its borders, kicked off by Al Qaeda-linked militias to further their territorial expansion plans. The USS Harry Truman carrier is standing by at home port for a chemical contingency.
The abduction of 21 UNDOP Filipino UN observers Wednesday, March 6, by the Islamist Martyrs of the Yarmouk, is now seen as tying in closely with the next plans of the Islamist militias of the Syrian rebel force, headed by Jabhat al-Nusra, which are to cement their grip on the Syrian Golan, eastern Syria and the Upper Euphrates, where the important towns of Deir Azor and Abu Kemal are situated.

March 9, 2013 Briefs:

•    Egypt raises state of emergency in Sinai
The emergency level in North and South Sinai was raised Saturday after information was received that jihadist groups are planning attacks on Egyptian police facilities. A Jordanian military spokesman has announced that the 21 UNDORF hostages captured by Syrian Islamist rebels on the Syrian Golan have been released and are in the Hashemite Kingdom.

Obama’s Israel visit to sweeten pill of concessions to Iran
DEBKAfile Special Report
09 March. Western optimism on Iran’s nuclear program was generated by three major US concessions in Kazakhstan to which Israel strongly objects: Fordo stays open, 20-percent uranium enrichment continues and low-grade Iranian uranium stocks will not leave the country.
DEBKAfile: With these gains, the Iranian negotiators must have been laughing all the way home from their talks with the six big powers on 26-27 of February and crowing over what one Israeli official called "Tehran’s huge success and Israel’s total defeat.”
Significantly, former Military Intelligence chief Amos Yadlin chose this moment to comment that an Israeli strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities would be “a one-night operation.”

March 11, 2013 Briefs:

•    Prime minister’s office on Obama visit.
Upon arrival Wednesday morning for his 50-hour visit, US President Barack Obama will inspect the Iron Dome battery deployed especially for his visit at Ben Gurion airport. Bethlehem is added to his schedule, also a meeting with opposition leader Shelly Yacemovich in addition to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and President Shimon Peres. He will also visit the Shrine of the Book (Dead Sea Scrolls) at the Israel Museum. After calling on Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah, Thursday, he returns to Jerusalem for his speech at the National Convention Center.
•    Libyan Islamists kidnap and torture expat Egyptian Christians
Libyan Islamists have rounded up hundreds of expatriate Egyptian Coptic Christians in Benghazi in the last month, subjecting them to extreme torture. Responsible for the atrocityt, the same Ansar al-Sharia, which led the assault in Benghazi lastt September and murdered Ambassador Chris Steven and three of his staff.  According to another report, the Libyan parliament has suspended operations after armed men stormed the building.

Hundreds of Golan UN observers scramble to safety in Israel
DEBKAfile Exclusive
11 March. DEBKAfile reports the flight of hundreds of UN Disengagement and observers Force (UNDOF) soldiers - Indian, Austrian and Filipino - in trucks and APCs from the Syrian side of Golan into Israel was in full swing early Monday, March 11. Their commanders urged to get out, saying “We can no longer vouch for your safety.” Syrian rebel Islamists are almost in full control of the 8-sq.km Syrian-Israel separation zone with Hizballah units heading towards the enclave as well.

March 12, 2013 Briefs:

•    Two Israeli airmen killed in helicopter training crash
The Cobra attack helicopter piloted by Air Force reservists Lt. Col. Noam Ron, 49, from Oranit, and Capt. Erez Flexner, 31, from Herzliya, crashed on its way back from a training sortie to the Air Force base at Palmachim Monday night – according to initial investigation due to a technical fault. Search parties went out after contact was lost with the crew at one o’clock after midnight. Air Force Commander Maj. Gen. Amir Eshel has grounded all Cobra copters for a thorough investigation. The last loss of an Israeli combat helicopter was in August 2010 during a joint maneuver with Romania.

Al Qaeda’s 1,000-km chain from Baghdad to DamascusDEBKAfile Special Report
12 March. By beating the Syrian army 17th reserve division for control of the Euphrates valley, Islamist militias have removed the last gap in al Qaeda’s 1,000-km chain of command from north of Baghdad to eastern Damascus, including Syrian Golan on Israel’s border. Any “conflagration” in Syria could quickly spread to Lebanon, Iraq or the Golan; a violent incident in Egypt could be tied to Libya, Israel or Algeria. “The threats have not gone, only assumed new shapes,” said IDF chief of staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz. “The risk of escalation is very high.”
Regarding Syria, he said: “Although the probability of a conventional war against the Syrian army is low, the terrorist organizations fighting Assad may set their sights on us next. The Syrian army’s tremendous strategic resources may well fall into terrorist hands.”

March 13, 2013 Briefs:

•    Israeli government coalition accord ready for signing
Two days short of his second deadline, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu Wednesday wound up long and arduous negotiations for a coalition government with four parties, Yair Lapid’s Yesh Atid (Future), Naftali Bennett’s Habayit Hayehudi, Tzipi Livni’s Hatnuah and Shaul Mofaz’s Kadima.
The two political tyros, Lapid of Yesh Atid and Bennett of Habayit Hayehudi, proved to be skilled negotiators and, notwithstanding their inexperience, Lapid won five portfolios for his party and the Finance Ministry for himself; Bennett, three key ministries lumped together plus Knesset Finance Committee chair for his party. Rabbi Shay Piron of Yesh Atid wrested the coveted Education Ministry from Likud’s Gideon Sahar, who is bidding for Interior. Livni takes Justice.
Netanyahu’s Likud-Israel Beitenu keeps the post of Knesset Speaker for Yuly Edelstein.
This will be the first Israeli government coalition without any ultra-religious parties. They join Labor on the opposition benches.
•    Palestinian shot dead in Israeli pursuit of road bombers
Mahmoud A-Titi, 25, was shot dead, eight others injured, by Israeli troops in the al Fawar camp near Hebron after a gang pelted Israeli vehicles on Route 60 with firebombs. The troops chased the assailants as they fled into the camp. A violent clash ensued and broken up by Israeli fire.
•    US amphibian strike force heads for Mid East
Ahead of President Barack’s visit to Israel and Jordan at a time of high regional tension, the US Monday dispatched to the Mediterranean and Persian Gulf a naval task force made up of the thee amphibian strike vessels, the USS Kearsange,  the USS San Antonio and the USS Carter Hall. They carry 2,200 combatants of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

Iron Dome for Obama’s Israel landing – in case of al Qaeda, chemical attack
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report
13 March. Barack Obama will be the first US president to be guarded by an Iron Dome anti-missile system against possible al Qaeda attempts from Syria or Sinai to shoot rockets tipped with poison chemicals after Air Force One touches down at Israel’s Ben Gurion airport on March 20. Just five months ago, the airport, like Jerusalem, was targeted for Hamas missile attack. The Iron Dome and Patriot batteries defending central Israel since then were not considered sufficient to secure the president’s arrival.
No one dares rule out a possible jihadist attack on the US president to avenge the killing of Osama bin Laden on his orders two years ago – whether from Sinai or Syria.

March 14, 2013 Briefs:

•    Kochavi: Iran will continue to advance its nuclear program in 2013
In the view of Israel Military Intelligence, Iran is aiming for the capacity for nuclear breakout within a short time, but has not yet decided to build a bomb, said MI chief Maj. Gen. Aviv Kochavi in a lecture Thursday. The regime in Tehran is standing up to domestic grievances over the hardships caused by sanctions and not about to change its nuclear policy. It rates the probability of attack as “not high.” In Syria, Bashar Assad’s allies, Iran and Hizballah, knowing his fate is sealed, have “flooded the country a militia of 50,000 fighters,” he said.
For the first time, Israel faces “four active terrorism borders: Lebanon, Syria, Sinai and the Gaza Strip. The threat of security deterioration caused either by us attacking, or a terrorist attack on us... is growing,” said Gen. Kochavi, adding a total of 200,000 rockets and missiles are aimed at Israel by its enemies.

The Palestinian Authority advises President Barack Obama to call off his tour of the Western Wall and al Aqsa mosque on Temple Mount, Jerusalem, under the escort of Israeli security personnel. Obama is to spend March 20 and 21 on a visit to Israel and the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah. Visiting those shrines, said the PA, would be an affirmation of Israeli sovereignty. Al Qaeda in bid to seize Syrian Golan before Obama visit
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report
14 March. Al Qaeda’s Syrian wing Jabhat al-Nusra led a Syrian rebel operation Wednesday, March 13, to occupy Golan and cleanse it of Syrian troops, so as to be ready for cross-border attacks on Israel and Jordan – possibly during US President’ Barack Obama’s visits on March 20-22. The jihadists also hope to use “liberated” Syrian Golan as launching pads for a war of attrition against Israel and Jordan. Their deadline for achieving this objective is March 15.
Our military sources add, that in the course of the fighting Wednesday, the Nusra front uncovered a secret network of large tunnels running from different points on the Golan up to the Israeli border. They are big enough for the passage of entire Syrian units with their tanks and heavy trucks, allowing them to pop up without warning against Israeli units and mow them down.
