Dear Brian,
The 'End Times' is a subject which has been preached from pulpits over a long time, but not so much in recent years to brittle congregations particularly, preferring to hear the social gospel. A recent report in national newspapers has put it back on the agenda from a secular point of view, "And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled", 2 Tim 3 v 1. It is the second part of the verse which offers hope to Christians!Providentially a top British General Sir Graeme Lamb (pictured below), ex Director of Special Forces, note his former portfolio, warned, "The world is facing a gathering storm that could lead to World War Three".
He didn't say ongoing storm! He went on to state, "Now was like the 1930's when the world was hurtling towards World War Two". The General further reiterated that we are actually in a gathering storm, endorsed by Defence Secretary Ben Wallace who said, "Every day we see our adversaries using cyber tools against us". Sir Graeme Lamb used terminology which is not normally heard from Generals.Joe Biden has pledged a new accord with Iran a country publicly committed to the destruction of Israel, a ticking clock in the Middle East.
It was ex President Obama who signed a nuclear deal with that country to the distress of Israel. Islam is expanding its influence in the knowledge that the West hasn't got the will to oppose it. The storm clouds are amassing with all roads leading to Armageddon, "This know also in the last days perilous times shall come", 2 Tim 3 v 1.The role for Christians in making observations is reading the Bible and newspapers concurrently to discern that the stage is set for the Lord's return, "Looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the great God and our saviour Jesus Christ", Titus 2 v 13.YOURS IN CHRISTDAVID FLEMING
