Lakewood Church confirms Pastor Joel Osteen has extended an invitation to Kanye West to attend a Sunday Service at his Houston megachurch.
One one hand, if Kanye West has
really become born again and gotten saved, then I applaud his efforts and give him massive amounts of grace as he begins walking with the Lord. But on the other hand, this whole thing with each passing day is beginning to look phonier and phonier, and if not a stunt, then it is almost certainly adding to the roster of the
end times Laodicean Church. If Kanye is serious, we will be able to tell pretty quickly in his attitude towards his massive wealth.
"And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see." Revelation 3:13-18 (KJV)
The addition of Joel Osteen to this evolving puzzle does not bode well on any level, he being the current king of Laodicea. Still, I will work hard to keep an open mind with all this but red flags keep popping up all over the place with each new story I read about it. Could this be leading to the false end times revival of the '
bring your own god' generation? I'm hoping I'm wrong but deep down inside, I don't think I am. One thing is for sure, one thing that Kanye West will not get at Lakewood Church is the gospel.
Joel Osteen invites Kanye West to attend Sunday Service at Lakewood Church in Houston
FROM KHOU*11: Joel Osteen and Kanye West have developed a friendship through phone conversations about faith, according to
Lakewood. More than 50,000 people attend the non-denominational church Christian church each week and millions more watch Osteen's televised sermons. The service is seen in more than 100 countries.
West, who stars in "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" with wife Kim, often conducts his own Sunday Service on his property in Calabasas, California. The invitation-only event attracts dozens of celebrities and features performances by West and a gospel choir and non-denominational sermons.
On Easter Sunday, West's service was part of the Coachella lineup.
Both men have been targeted by critics through the years, most recently when West defended President Trump and called him a friend. Osteen is often criticized by other religious leaders for promoting the "
prosperity gospel."
On its website Lakewood says "We believe that living life according to God's Word is the way to an abundant, fulfilling life."
There's no date yet for West's visit to Lakewood and no word on whether Kim and the couple's four children will join him. The news about Osteen's invitation comes on the same day Kanye dropped his new album
"Jesus is King."
