How Rightly Dividing The Psalms Yields Amazing Insight On Past And Future Bible Prophecy And Doctrine

Thankfully, God saw fit to record all this within the pages of the Bible so we could know for sure. Now, if you choose to remain deceived about things like the 'perpetual virginity' of Mary and other heretical lies dished out by the Catholic Church, that is on you.

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
God commands born again Christians in 2 Timothy to not only study the scriptures, but to also learn how to rightly divide them. The reason for studying is obvious, but what about the command to also rightly divide what you read? One amazing reason for rightly dividing is because when we do, the scriptures begin to yield amazing insight and revelation on bible prophecy and doctrine that God has 'hidden' there within His word.
This because crystal-clear to me again this morning, for maybe the 1,000th literal time, as I was doing my morning devotional in the book of Psalms, and prophecy began literally to leap from off the printed page. Let me show you what I mean.
In Psalm 67, we read the following:
"Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah." Psalm 67:3,4 (KJV)
Now, be honest with me for a moment. Did those two verses show you much, if anything, about yet to be fulfilled Bible prophecy? But yet they are packed with references to the greatest coming event in human history, the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. The first verse is talking about a time when all the people of the earth will praise the Lord. Has that ever happened before? No, it has not. The second verse confirms the first, letting us know that all nations, just think of the 193+ nations of the UN, will praise the Lord as nations. The verse continues that thought and shows us the Lord Jesus Christ as the Righteous Judge, judging and governing all the nations of the earth literally, physically and visibly.
Now where have we read about that event before? Right here.
"And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS." Revelation 19:15,16 (KJV)

God has placed the word 'selah' in scripture for a mind-blowing reason if you love prophecy

Lastly, verse 4 of Psalm 67 also yields this little scriptural bombshell, the word 'selah'. The word 'selah' is a direct reference to the events that will be taking place during the time of Jacob's trouble in the days after the Pretribulation Rapture of the Church. If you have not yet read our article entitled The Real Meaning Of The Word Selah As Found In the King Bible, I highly recommend that you take a moment and check it out. It may just be the single greatest insight to understanding Bible prophecy you will ever read. I know when the Lord showed it to me some years back, it forever changed how I read the Old Testament.

Moving on in our study in Psalms this morning, we arrive at this little doctrinal gem:
"I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother's children. For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me." Psalm 69:8,9 (KJV)
Psalm 69 is another place where the psalmist, David, begins talking about himself and suddenly without any advance notice begins talking about things related to the then-future earthly ministry of Jesus Christ. This amazing phenomenon happens quite often in the Old Testament, especially in the writings of King David, who is a type of Jesus Christ. But look at the incredible harvest of Bible doctrine that these two verses yield. We will start with the last one first.
Where David begins talking about the 'zeal of thine house' eating him up, David is actually prophesying about the then far-future moment when Jesus of Nazareth would drive the money changers out of the Temple. The Holy Spirit in John 2 confirms this for us:
"And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables; And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise. And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up." John 2:15-17 (KJV)
As you can see, your King James Bible is self-interpreting, no need to take my word for it at all. The Holy Spirit in John connects Psalm 69 with the earthly ministry of Jesus 100%, but that's not all.

The Bible absolutely disproves the 'perpetual virginity' of Mary

Verse 8 in Psalm 69 talks about Jesus having other brothers and sisters in his earthly family, and that He would be estranged from them for a time. This is confirmed in the gospel of Mark as we see here.
"Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching." Mark 6:3-6 (KJV)
Now of you're a Roman Catholic, this just shattered your whole world. What, Mary did not remain a 'perpetual virgin' as the Catholic Church teaches? NO, she did in no wiseremain a virgin. The Holy Spirit through Mark records not only that Jesus had other brothers and sisters, Mark gives us all the names of His 4 brothers! The 'mary' of the Roman Catholic Church bears little resemblance to the actual Mary found in scripture. Just ask James, Joses, Juda, Simon or any of the sisters of Jesus. They'll tell you!
Thankfully, God saw fit to record all this within the pages of the Bible so we could know for sure. Now, if you choose to remain deceived about things like the 'perpetual virginity' of Mary and other heretical lies dished out by the Catholic Church, that is on you. But you do it in direct violation and contradiction of God's clear teachings as found in the King James Bible.
I hope this small but powerful Bible study will be a blessing to you. If you will learn how to rightly divide, start here, and learn that the whole Bible is written for you but the whole Bible is not written to you, it will forever change your times of Bible study and devotionals. These little Bible bombshells exist in every, single book of the Bible, there are hundreds and hundreds of them.
Now start fulfilling 2 Timothy 2:15 and go find them!
