SOME REAL CUTTING EDGE AND DYNAMIC NEWS FOR YOU HERE FROM "DEMOCRACY UNDER ATTACK"!!

Unity Coalition for Israel
Editor's Note: Wednesday September 07, 2016
Could the US home-grown terrorist attacks and senseless tragedies against Western Democracy be related to the viciousness mindset that motivated Muhammad, Osama bin Laden, and Hitler? That "way" of thinking is still prevalent in our world today.  We see it recurring in the form of ISIS, beheadings, persecution of Christians and other minorities, and the increase in Anti-Semitism across college campuses and division between the races. Is there really a correlation between all these brutal events? Yes, we believe there is connection because the evil is still here and growing.  It seems the ungodly, hateful acts of horror are manifesting once again as we head into the month of September.

The August Terror Threat Snapshot was released today by Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX). The “snapshot” is a monthly Committee assessment of the growing threat America, the West, and the world face from ISIS and other Islamist terrorists.
Terror Threat Snapshot
Chairman McCaul: “The recent ISIS attacks in France and Germany and the arrests of nine ISIS-linked individuals inside the U.S. this past month underscore the acute threat we face from radical Islamist terrorists. These jihadists have set deep roots in key sanctuaries across the Middle East, South Asia, and North Africa, while extending their deadly reach across the globe using their operatives and supporters. Our enemies – whether ISIS, al Qaeda, or the world’s primary state sponsor of terror in Iran – have clearly capitalized on several years of failed policies and passivity. Reversing this disastrous course is an urgent national security imperative for the United States and our allies.”The complete August Terror Threat Snapshot is available here.

WORLDWIDE THREATS TO THE HOMELAND: ISIS AND THE NEW WAVE OF TERROR
REP. MICHAEL MCCAUL

HOMELAND.HOUSE.GOV, September 07, 2016

WORLDWIDE THREATS TO THE HOMELAND: ISIS AND THE NEW WAVE OF TERRORThe hearing examined current threats to the U.S. homeland, especially from radical Islamist terrorists, and reviewed the efforts of the federal government to counter other emerging threats.
Witnesses discussed the danger of foreign-inspired homegrown extremists, the role of global terrorist organizations in their radicalization, and efforts to prevent terrorist infiltration into the United States. The hearing also examined continued and emerging threats to cybersecurity and our critical infrastructure, as well as targeting our food supply.

OPENING STATEMENTS: Statement of Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) Homeland Security Committee
Worldwide Threats to the Homeland: ISIS and the New Wave of Terror July 14, 2016

Remarks as Prepared: "Before I begin today’s hearing I would like to take a moment to remember the Dallas police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty last week. We will never forget.

The tragedy remi nds us that every day our first responders take risks to protect us, and we can honor their sacrifice by showing that we support them and that we have their backs. The past month we witnessed four major terrorist attacks, in four weeks, in four countries, including the deadliest terrorist attack on the U.S. homeland since 9/11.

All of these attacks are believed to be the work of ISIS, the new standard-bearer of evil. In fact, the group has now been linked to almost 100 plots against the West since 2014—an unprecedented wave of terror.

Nearly 15 years after 9/11, we must confront the reality that we are not winning the war against Islamist terror. While groups like ISIS may be losing some ground in Syria and Iraq, overall they are not “on the run,” as the Obama Administration says. They are on the rise. But I am concerned that we have only seen the tip of the iceberg.

Director Comey, you prophetically warned this Committee two years ago that there would eventually be a “terrorist diaspora” out of Syria and Iraq, with jihadists returning home to spread extremism. The exodus has now begun. Thousands of Western foreign fighters have departed the conflict zone, including operatives who are being sent to conduct attacks, as we saw in Paris and Brussels. At the same time, ISIS’ online recruiting has evolved, and they now . ..

IS A TERRORIST ATTACK MORE OR LESS LIKELY ON 9/11?

IS A TERRORIST ATTACK MORE OR LESS LIKELY ON 9/11?Image Left: New York City Police Chaplain Khalid Laitif stands at the edge of the North Pool during memorial observances on the 13th anniversary of the 911 attacks at the site of the World Trade Center in New York (REUTERS)
As the 15th anniversary of the most deadly terrorist attack on American soil approaches, security agencies in the United States and around the world are being called on to raise alert levels. An imminent attack to commemorate the occasion is much feared.
There are, needless to say, no September 11 references in the Koran. Muslim holidays are marked according to a lunar calendar, in which September may coincide with different religious events on any given year.
Terrorist groups of the extreme-right variety often strike around April 20, the day of Adolf Hitler’s birth in 1889. For that reason, the April 15, 2013, Boston Marathon attack was at first thought by some investigators to be the handiwork of a domestic right-wing group. It later was found to be the work of two brothers, Chechen Islamists, who had no religious-based reason to pick the April date.
On the other hand, some history buffs have tried to link the decision to strike New York and Washington on September 11, 2001, to the 17th century Battle of Vienna. The Islamic Ottoman Empire suffered a humiliating defeat in that battle on September 11, 1683, losing to a coalition of German, Pole and Lithuanian Christians in what some historians consider a turning point in the 300-year war between the Ottomans and the Holy Roman Empire.
While that theory is supported by no hard data, there is little doubt that since the 2001 attacks, September 11 has become a time for heightened alerts on both ends of the terror equation. Additional anti-terrorist measures are enacted every year in world capitals. Reports of jihadists plotting new attacks become more frequent and are taken more seriously than at other times of year. And as demonstrated in the 2012 Benghazi, Libya, attack, Islamists have managed to successfully strike on or around September 11.
The jihadists “take anniversaries very seriously in terms of choosing when to attack in the United States,” Representative Michael McCaul, R-Texas, chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, told CNN last week. “I think we need to be on a high state of alert.” ...

REFLECTION: GEORGE W. BUSH'S ADDRESS TO THE NATION ON THE TERRORIST ATTACKS
G.W.BUSH

PRESIDENCY.UCSB.EDU, September 07, 2016

G.W.BushAddress to the Nation on the Terrorist Attacks - September 11, 2001
"Good evening. Today our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts. The victims were in airplanes or in their offices: secretaries, business men and women, military and Federal workers, moms and dads, friends and neighbors. Thousands of lives were suddenly ended by evil, despicable acts of terror.
The pictures of airplanes flying into buildings, fires burning, huge structures collapsing have filled us with disbelief, terrible sadness, and a quiet, unyielding anger. These acts of mass murder were intended to frighten our Nation into chaos and retreat, but they have failed. Our country is strong.
A great people has been moved to defend a great nation. Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shattered steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve. America was targeted for attack because we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining.
Today our Nation saw evil, the very worst of human nature. And we responded with the best of America, with the daring of our rescueworkers, with the caring for strangers and neighbors who came to give blood and help in any way they could.
Immediately following the first attack, I implemented our Government's emergency response plans. Our military is powerful, and it's prepared. Our emergency teams are working in New York City and Washington, DC, to help with local rescue efforts. Our first priority is to get help to those who have been injured and to take every precaution to protect our citizens at home and around the world from further attacks.
The functions of our Government continue without interruption. Federal agencies in Washington which had to be evacuated today are reopening for essential personnel tonight and will be open for business tomorrow. Our financial institutions remain strong, and the American economy will be open for business as well.
The search is underway for those who are behind these evil acts. I've directed the full resources of our intelligence and law enforcement communities to find ...

US HOUSE SELECT COMMITTEE ON BENGHAZI RELEASES PROPOSED REPORT
CHAIRMAN TREY GOWDY

BENGHAZI.HOUSE.GOV, September 06, 2016

81 New Witnesses, 75,000 New Pages of Documents Reveal Significant New Information, Fundamentally Changes the Public’s Understanding of the 2012 Terrorist Attacks that Killed Four Americans

Select Committee on Benghazi Releases Proposed Report
Washington, D.C. – Select Committee on Benghazi Chairman Trey Gowdy (SC-04) released the following statement after the committee’s Majority released a mark of its investigative report:
“Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods were heroes who gave their lives in service to our country. Their bravery and the courageous actions of so many others on the ground that night should be honored.
“When the Select Committee was formed, I promised to conduct this investigation in a manner worthy of the American people’s respect, and worthy of the memory of those who died. That is exactly what my colleagues and I have done.
“Now, I simply ask the American people to read this report for themselves, look at the evidence we have collected, and reach their own conclusions. You can read this report in less time than our fellow citizens were taking fire and fighting for their lives on the rooftops and in the streets of Benghazi.”
The committee’s proposed report is just over 800 pages long and is comprised of five primary sections and 12 appendices. It details relevant events in 2011 and 2012.
The following facts are among the many new revelations in Part I:
  • Despite President Obama and Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta’s clear orders to deploy military assets, nothing was sent to Benghazi, and nothing was en route to Libya at the time the last two Americans were killed almost 8 hours after the attacks began. [pg. 141]
  • With Ambassador Stevens missing, the White House convened a roughly two-hour meeting at 7:30 PM, which resulted in action items focused on a YouTube video, and others containing the phrases “[i]f any deployment is made,” and “Libya must agree to any deployment,” and “[w]ill not deploy until order comes to go to either Tripoli or Benghazi.” [pg. 115]
  • The Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff typically would have participated in the White House meeting, but did not attend because he went home to host a dinner party for foreign dignitaries. [pg. 107]
  • A Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team (FAST) sat on a plane in Rota, Spain, for three hours, and changed in and out of their uniforms four times. [pg. 154]
  • None of the relevant military forces met their required deployment timelines. [pg. 150]
  • The Libyan forces that evacuated Americans from the CIA Annex to the Benghazi airport was not affiliated with any of the militias the CIA or State Department had developed a relationship with during the prior 18 months. Instead, it was comprised of former Qadhafi loyalists who the U.S. had helped remove from power during the Libyan revolution. [pg. 144]
Rep. Mike Pompeo (KS-04) released the following statement regarding these findings:
“We expect our government to make every effort to save the lives of Americans who serve in harm’s way. That did not happen in Benghazi. Politics were put ahead of the lives of Americans, and while the administration had made excuses and blamed the challenges posed by time and distance, the truth is that they did not try.”
Rep. Martha Roby (AL-02) released the following statement ...

BENGHAZI: THE TERRORIST ATTACK OF SEPTEMBER 11, 2012
DANIEL GREENFIELD

DISCOVERTHENETWORKS.ORG, September 07, 2016

" .... The Obama administration immediately and persistently characterized what had occurred in Benghazi not as an act of terrorism, but as a spontaneous, unplanned uprising that happened, coincidentally, to take place on the anniversary of 9/11. Moreover, the administration portrayed the attack as an event that had evolved from what began as a low-level protest ... "
vEXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This report examines the most significant events that occurred before, during, and after the September 11, 2012 Islamic terrorist attacks against an American special mission (and a nearby CIA annex) in Benghazi, Libya.
In March 2011, American diplomat Christopher Stevens was stationed in Benghazi as the American liaison to Libya's “opposition” rebels—among whom were many al Qaeda-affiliated jihadists—who were fighting to topple the longstanding regime of President Muammar Qaddafi. Ambassador Stevens' task was to help coordinate covert U.S. assistance to these rebels.
Following Qaddafi's fall from power in the summer of 2011, Ambassador Stevens was tasked with finding and securing the vast caches of powerful armaments which the Libyan dictator had amassed during his long reign. In turn, Stevens facilitated the transfer of these arms to the “opposition” rebels in Syria who were trying to topple yet another Arab dictator—Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. As in Libya, the rebels in Syria were likewise known to include al Qaeda and other Shariah-supremacist groups.
In addition to facilitating arms transfers, Stevens' duties also included the recruitment of Islamic jihadists from Libya and elsewhere in North Africa who were willing to personally go into combat against the Assad regime in Syria. The U.S. mission in Benghazi served as a headquarters from which all the aforementioned activities could be coordinated with officials and diplomats from such countries as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.
Throughout 2012, violent jihadist activity became increasingly commonplace in Benghazi and elsewhere throughout Libya and North Africa. At or near the U.S. mission in Benghazi, for instance, there were many acts of terrorism featuring the use of guns, improvised explosive devices, hand grenades, rocket-propelled grenades, and car-bombs, along with explicit threats against Americans issued by known terrorists like al Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri. As a result of such developments, Ambassador Stevens and others at the U.S. mission in Benghazi repeatedly asked the Obama administration for increased security provisions during 2012, but these requests were denied or ignored ...

US HOMEGROWN ISLAMIST EXTREMISM
JAMES COMEY

FBI.GOV, September 07, 2016

vFBI Director James Comey estimated in August 2016 that around 80 percent of the Bureau’s more than 1,000 active homegrown terror investigations are linked to ISIS. Attacks directed or inspired by ISIS represent “the greatest threat to the physical safety of Americans today,” he added in July 2016.
Since September 11, 2001, there have been at least 163 homegrown jihadist plots in the United
States, including attempts to join terrorist groups overseas and execute attacks at home. More than 86 percent of these cases have occurred or been uncovered since 2009.
Authorities have arrested 102 individuals in the U.S. and charged 3 others in absentia in ISIS-linked cases since 2014. These individuals had, among other acts: plotted attacks; attempted to join ISIS in Iraq and Syria (or facilitated others’ travel); provided money, equipment, and weapons to ISIS; and falsified statements to federal authorities. Seven ISIS-linked terrorists have been killed while carrying out five separate attacks in California, Florida, Massachusetts, and Texas.
Nearly 90 percent of the ISIS supporters charged in the U.S. are male and approximately 35 percent of them are converts to Islam; their average age is 26. Nearly one-third of the ISIS-linked individuals charged were involved in plotting attacks in the Homeland.
