WE ARE BACK AFTER A SHORT BREAK AND RARING TO GO AGAIN!!
Sorry for the lack of updates dear friends, but Gilly and I have been away for a few days on a short summer break to blow away a few cobwebs and to rejuvenate ourselves for the soon coming autumn season.
We are back now, fit and raring to go, and here are a few new reports to get the blog moving again.

Throughout the New Testament we are urgently warned of false teachers, deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons. Indeed, satanic attacks, on the people of God, are evident throughout the entire Word of God.

Hebrews 11 lists numerous people of faith, and the terrible way that many were treated in Old Testament times. And here in Paul’s letter to Timothy, we are similarly warned.. by the Spirit of God, that in the last days, some will fall-away from the faith, because they gave heed to false teachers, deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons.
Guarding the truth of the glorious gospel of God’s grace, is as important today, as it has ever been. God’s people need to know how to conduct themselves, in this fallen world system.. and how to protect themselves from all forms of apostasy and evil – because the Spirit explicitly says, that in the latter times, some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.
Jesus Himself warned of false Christs and false prophets, who would arise, in the end times.. showing false signs and lying wonders, in order to lead others astray – even deceiving the elect of God. Peter warned of scoffers, who would come in these last days.. following after their own lusts, and mocking believers about the promised return of Christ for His saints. And here, the very Spirit of God Himself.. explicitly warns of this approaching deception, and these counterfeit claims.
And so, in these last day of the Christian dispensation, we ourselves are witnesses to the increasing apostasy and degeneration of true spirituality in the body of Christ, as the days become darker, men grow more evil, false teachers proliferate, doctrines of demons saturate the Church and the time for Christ’s return draws ever closer.
This sorry state of affairs has a twin-pronged assault. Satan, and his demonic principalities and powers, are the enemies of our soul. They prowl around like roaring lions, seeking whom they may destroy. Indeed, they will often present themselves as angels of light, in order to infiltrate the Church, deceive the body of Christ and cause Christians to become unfruitful and spiritually impotent.
But we ourselves can too frequently be off-guard, by leaving our first Love, for the enticements of the world and the appetites the flesh. Unless we are vigilant in our spiritual life, we can find ourselves walking in the counsel of the ungodly, standing in the way of sinners and drinking from the broken cisterns of the world. Without due care, we can lapse in our spiritual walk and thus, neglect our spiritual growth.
How important, therefore, in these last days to buckle on the whole armour of God, to stand fast in the faith, to persevere in tribulation.. to be vigilant in prayer and steadfast in praise.. with thanksgiving – for the Spirit explicitly says, that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for this serious and important warning. I recognise how quickly I can be distracted from the truth of Your Word, enticed away into worldly pursuits or rendered spiritually impotent by doctrines of demons. Keep me I pray, and those that I love, from the wiles of the enemy. Give us spiritual discernment, and a determination to stand fast in the faith, to Your praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus name, AMEN.

THE TEMPLE MOUNT TRAP

I wrote here that Israel’s removal of the metal detectors from Temple Mount was a mistake, and that those in the west approving of the move merely showed how badly they failed to understand the Arab Muslim religious war against the Jews.
On the day the metal detectors were removed I attended a meeting in Jerusalem where Israel’s minister for housing, Yoav Galant, said erecting the barriers had been “a mistake”.
Staggered by this language which played directly into the Arab and Muslim “strong horse” mindset in which any retreat is viewed as a signal to redouble the attack, I asked Galant whether such a move wasn’t going to be taken as a sign of weakness which would merely incentivise more violence. “No!” he snapped before stalking off. It was subsequently reported that Galant had been the prime mover inside the Israeli security cabinet to get the metal detectors removed.
What has followed, however, has been as predictable as it is alarming. The Palestinian Arabs have been crowing that they have Israel on the run. That has accordingly galvanised them to further violence, rioting on Temple Mount and attacking from this supposedly sacred Islamic space Jewish worshippers praying at the Western Wall. (It was a attack from al Aqsa upon Israeli police officers, two of whom were murdered, which led to the metal detectors being installed in the first place).
Palestinian Authority leaders then endorsed two weeks of Arab rioting at Temple Mount, calling on Palestinians to “rage” and “come to the defence of al Aqsa” against the entirely fictional threat from Israel.
Palestinian Media Watch published the cartoon reproduced here which Fatah (the party of the “moderate” Mahmoud Abbas) posted on its Facebook page and whose text PMW translates as “Victory is better than sleep”. It also published another showing metal detectors running away from cheering Arabs at the Dome of the Rock on Temple Mount. The message is that Israel gave in to terror. That is the worst possible message Israel could have given. Bassam Tawil underscores here the implications of this debacle.
“We have reached a new level in this discourse: Palestinian Authority (PA) officials are now openly admitting that it is not the metal detectors or security cameras that are at issue.“Instead, they admit, this is a battle over sovereignty on the Temple Mount and Jerusalem. For the Palestinians, the real battle is over who controls Jerusalem and its holy sites. The real battle, in their eyes, is over the Jews’ right to live in their own state in the Middle East. Many Palestinians have still not come to terms with Israel’s right to exist, and that is what this battle is really about.
“The Palestinians, feeling triumphant now that Israel has complied with their demand to remove the metal detectors and security cameras, have been clarifying that it is only the first step in their fight to eradicate any Israeli presence in the Old City of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount.” In other words, Israel was trapped into a series of events which would galvanise another escalation of the Arabs’ war of extermination being waged against it. So how could the Israelis have been trapped like this?
Many cite incompetence. Others, though, spy the footprint of another malevolent and highly manipulative actor: the Islamic Republic of Iran. Israel Hayom reports that the violence in and around Temple Mount was at least partly fuelled by Iran – to the displeasure of the PA leadership. It quotes an unnamed PA official saying:
“It is plainly obvious that the government in Tehran, by way of its long tentacles, was behind these efforts,” the official said. “This involves millions of shekels, and it appears that the Iranians have found a way to cash in on this and to make it clear to the Palestinians that Iran is taking care of them.” Another PA official is quoted claiming that the Israelis have allowed Iranian influence to develop amongst Israeli Arabs.
“This would have not taken place in areas under Palestinian control. We would have never let Iran establish such a foothold because this would have hit us like a boomerang, by prompting action from Arab states,” the official said. “Perhaps the Iranians understood they could undertake this effort without Israeli authorities asking too many questions.” Really? Is that last claim likely?
For Liel Liebowitz in Tablet, the trail leads from the northern Israel branch of the Islamic Movement, whose leader was recently jailed by Israel in large part for having links with an Iranian agent, to the Iranian regime whose proxy army Hezbollah is poised to move right up to Israel’s Syrian border as a result of Russia’s US-approved deal to monitor two Syrian “safe zones”.
Liebowitz writes: “How did Iranian cash and intel find its way to Umm al-Fahm and Jerusalem and beyond? That’s a question for Israel’s capable intelligence services. But Netanyahu, a supremely gifted political operative, didn’t need to stick around and wait for an answer. He understood two things: first, that he was witnessing a finely orchestrated play unfurling at his doorstep; and second, that if he hit back hard, Donald Trump wouldn’t be there to back him up (my emphasis). And so he played the only card available to him—backing down and thanking both Trump and the Jordanians for their part in de-escalating the conflict, which is all the proof you need that neither the Jordanians nor Trump had any real role to play.”
These theories merely add to the swirling fog of conjecture about these troubling developments. What is clear, however, is that the Palestinian Arabs are jubilant. And far from the despair which the west assumes motivates them to “resist”, it is the exultation that they are advancing towards their infernal goal of exterminating Israel and driving out the Jews from their rightful home in Jerusalem which is, alas, likely to result in another twist to their spiral of west-financed hatred, incitement and murder.

A DAY TO TEACH THE WORLD
Tonight Jews start the fast of Tisha b’Av, or the ninth of the month of Av. I cannot recall a year when this fast has been so freighted with anxiety, poignancy and the full weight of Jewish history.
For through this fast the Jewish people mourn the destruction of the ancient Jewish Temple – a double destruction in fact, the first time by the Babylonians in 586 BCE and and the second by the Romans in 70 CE which saw the Jewish people exiled from their homeland of Israel.
The Temple, that is, that stood in Jerusalem on what is now called Temple Mount; the one to whose remaining stones Jews turn their faces when they pray as the site of their ancient holy of holies; the one that is the cynosure of their faith and whose existence and meaning are threaded through their prayers.
The one that the Arab Muslims deny ever existed. The one on whose ancient site on Temple Mount Jews are barred from praying in case this is used as a pretext by the Arab and Muslim world to start World War Three. The one which the Arab Muslims claim is their third holiest place but which they have turned into a theatre of war from which to attack and murder Jews and other Israelis.
This year Tisha b’Av is taking place in the shadow of the murderous violence being perpetrated by the Arabs from Temple Mount, incited by the false claim that Israel is trying to destroy the al Aqsa mosque and bar Muslims from praying there. Israel, of all places – the only country in the Middle East where allMuslims along with worshippers from every other faith can pray in safety.
The Arab Muslims claim there never was a Jewish Temple there. Mahmoud Abbas, whose “doctorate” was in denying the Holocaust, denies there was ever a Jewish Temple there. He and the rest of the Arab Muslim world say it is a place that has only ever been sacred to Muslims. Their denial that the land of Israel was ever the Jewish homeland is centred on their claim that there never was a Temple in Jerusalem, only the al Aqsa mosque.
But al Aqsa was built on top of the ruins of the Temple, in order to bury and conceal it and thus bury and conceal the national history of the Jews – the only people for whom Israel was ever their national kingdom, thousands of years before Islam was even invented and the Arabs invaded as colonialist conquerers.
They want to bury and conceal it because their war of extermination against Israel is based on the lie that the Muslims are the original inhabitants of the land. But they have not succeeded.
The original stones used to build the Temple’s foundations are still there. You can see them. Artefacts from the time of the Jewish King Solomon have been excavated. You can see them. Two inscriptions prohibiting the entry of nonbelievers to the Temple have been found on Temple Mount. You can see them. Stones hurled down from the Temple by the Romans in their orgy of destruction onto the street below remain where they fell. You can see them, as well as the ancient street itself. Hundreds of excavated mikvaot, or Jewish ritual baths, testify to the Jewish presence around the Temple thousands of years ago. You can see them.
But what the fast of Tisha b’Av itself also tells the world is that the Jews were in Jerusalem before the Babylonians, before the Romans, before the Christians and most certainly before the Muslims. What Jews mourn on Tisha b’Av is an actual historical event.
And that’s what so many in the west also don’t grasp – that the Jews alone are the indigenous people of the land, and that Judaism is based on an actual nation which practised its religion in the actual historic kingdom of Judea.
But because Islam holds that any territory ever occupied by Muslims remains Muslim for ever and can be ruled by no-one else, the Muslim world will not accept this. That’s why the war over Temple Mount is not being waged in the name of the Palestinians or even the Arabs but – according to Mahmoud Abbas amongst others – all Muslims.
It is an Islamic holy war – not just against the State of Israel but against Judaism itself. For both the Temple and the land of Israel are central to Jewish religious belief. Not all Jews are Zionists, for sure. Neither are all Jews religiously observant. But Judaism is inextricably composed of the people, the religion and the land. Those who want to strip away the land from the Jewish people are attacking Judaism itself.
Some Jews question why Tisha b’Av remains a day of mourning when Israel has been so triumphantly reborn from the ashes of history. But today it’s surely more important than ever to mourn. For the destroyers are still with us, the Temple Mount is still occupied and the stones are still being hurled down from it. The only difference is that the murderous destroyers hurling the rocks today are not the Romans but the Arab Muslims.
Well, the enemies of the Jewish people didn’t destroy us before; against impossible odds the land of Israel was restored to its indigenous people, the Jews; and they won’t succeed in destroying us now, or ever.
