SAD BUT ALSO GOOD NEWS ABOUT BRIAN AS HE IS PROMOTED TO HIGHER GLORY

Hi Everyone
Since our last emails Brian deteriorated quickly. With the various ailments that we told you about previously (pneumonia, VRE and Covid) his lungs really struggled.
Thank you so much for all your prayers – the oxygen therapy, although it worked for a time (which as we said was truly amazing), it didn’t then have the long-lasting effect that the doctors were looking for.
We were just preparing to email and tell you this when we heard from Gilly this morning that Brian slipped away very, very peacefully late on Monday night.
She was with Brian for a long time yesterday. He’d had a comfortable day; his breathing was pretty bad and a bit rattly, but he was very comfortable. He then got a little restless and his breathing got a little bit worse.
He then slept for a while and Gilly was talking to him a lot, stroking his hair, but he was more or less asleep, although she was aware he could hear her at times.
Then it got to 10 o’clock and she thought “I think he’s just missed a breath.”His eyes, having been closed, were now half-open and she stood over him and looked into his eyes. And, it sounds weird, she felt that it was like he was looking into her soul.Then she said, “Brian, if you want to go to be with Jesus, you go.
Don’t wait for the girls [their daughters] to get here [from America]; don’t worry about me, you go. You go to your great reward right now. I want you to be out of pain and comfortable.”And it was just, somehow, like an anointing fell, and she sang a couple of hymns and lifted her hands and praised God and asked Jesus to come and take him. Then there was a real anointing in the room – it was almost like a triumphal entry to heaven, with him being sent off.
He just went. He took two or three more little breaths and it was obvious – he’d gone to be with the Lord.He was gone in moments! It was just so comforting for her to be there, and to see him just go so gently.So he died very, very peacefully.
At the moment there is no news on any future funeral or thanksgiving service(s).Let us know if you would like details as they become available.

Russia defaults on foreign debt for the first time in more than a century after sanctions forced it to miss Sunday deadline

Russia has defaulted on its foreign debt for the first time since the Bolshevik coup more than a century ago after crippling sanctions forced the country to miss a key payment deadline on Sunday.
Moscow missed the deadline to pay $100 million (£81.4m) in interest on two Eurobonds, one denominated in U.S. dollars and another euros, which had originally been due on May 27. The payments had a grace period of 30 days, which expired on Sunday.
Some Taiwanese holders of the Russian Eurobonds had not not received the interest payments on Monday, sources told Reuters.

Dozens of Russian soldiers have been killed in Ukraine's first-ever strike on one of Putin's command posts using US long-range missile artillery, Kyiv says.
At least 40 of Moscow's men died after Ukrainian troops used an American HIMARS system to blow up a base near the city of Izyum in Donbas, commanders said.
Footage which emerged on Sunday showed the aftermath of the attack, including blown-out buildings and smouldering supply trucks painted with the 'Z' war symbol.

Missiles continue to pound Ukrainian capital today as Russian rockets rain down on Kyiv
Russian rockets rain on Kyiv for first time in three weeks: Missiles continue to pound Ukrainian capital today after many injured in overnight strike - as desperate Putin plans to send nuclear-capable arsenal to Belarus
- Russia launched 14 missiles at Kyiv and surrounding areas early Sunday that hit two residential blocks
- Kyiv major Vitali Klitshko said they had 'a lot of injuries' as emergency services rushes to rescue people
- The strikes were the first attacks on Kyiv since June 5 - three weeks - and an attempt to 'intimidate' the city
- Meanwhile Putin agreed with president of Belarus to station nuclear-capable Iskander-M missiles there
- Putin reported to have sacked 'Butcher of Aleppo' in overall charge of Russian forces over slow progress
- He will be replaced by a general 'dogged by allegations of corruption and brutality for over 30 years'
- Yesterday Ukrainian forces gave up strategic city of Severodonetsk to Russian army in small victory for Putin
Putin has attacked Kyiv for the first time in weeks, launching fourteen missiles at the city and surrounding region and striking at least two residential buildings with 'a lot of injuries', according to Ukrainian sources.
Kyiv had enjoyed three weeks of relative peace and quiet during the war until the early Sunday morning strikes, the first attacks since June 5.
Several large bangs shook the city around 6.30am and rescue services were seen battling flames and rescuing civilians from the blasted out windows of a burning nine-story apartment building.

KYIV, Ukraine (AFP) — Ukraine said it came under “massive bombardment” Saturday from neighboring Belarus, a Russian ally not officially involved in the conflict, the day after announcing a retreat from the strategic city of Severodonetsk.
Twenty rockets targeted the village of Desna in the northern Chernigiv region, Ukraine’s northern military command said in a statement, adding that infrastructure was hit, but no casualties had yet been reported.
Belarus has provided logistic support to Moscow since the February 24 invasion, particularly in the first few weeks, and like Russia has been targeted by Western sanctions — but is officially not involved in the conflict.
