Dems to strike 'so help you God' from oath taken in front of key House committee, draft shows FROM FOX NEWS: The draft shows that the House Committee on Natural Resources would ask witnesses to recite only, "Do you solemnly swear or affirm, under penalty of law, that the testimony that you are about to give is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?" The rules proposal places the words "so help you God" in red brackets, indicating they are slated to be cut. The words "under penalty of law" are in red text, indicating that Democrats propose to add that phrasing to the oath. The draft rules also remove the phrase "his or her" throughout the document, changing those two pronouns to "their." The rules additionally modify all references to the committee's "Chairman" to instead refer only to the committee's "Chair."\ Other rules changes relate to expanding the committee's authority over natural gas in Alaska and fossil-fuel resources. While many federal oaths include the phrase "so help me God," some -- most notably the presidential oath of office -- do not. The full committee is set to vote on the new language this week, and the rules would take effect immediately if adopted. Other committees were still in the process of finalizing their rules on Monday. Republican leaders reacted with dismay to the proposed change, and suggested it was a sign of the Democratic Party's leftward shift. “It is incredible, but not surprising, that the Democrats would try to remove God from committee proceedings in one of their first acts in the majority," House Republican Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., told Fox News. "They really have become the party of Karl Marx.” Spokespeople for the Natural Resources Committee did not immediately reply to Fox News' requests for comment. The committee, which has oversight of national parks, wildlife and energy, is chaired by Democratic Arizona Rep. Raul Grijalva. The proposed change was not the first time Democrats have sought to strike references to God in official party documents. In 2012, the floor of the Democratic National Convention erupted over a sudden move to restore to the platform a reference to God and recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital -- after heavy criticism from Republicans for initially omitting them. Democrats, though, were hardly in agreement over the reversal. A large and loud group of delegates shouted "no" as the convention chairman (then-Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa) called for the vote. Villaraigosa had to call for the vote three times before ruling that the "ayes" had it. BRIAN SENDS ARTICLES TO UPDATE HIS OWN BLOG FOR THE FIRST TIME FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS!

Hi Everyone,

The two articles below this message were sent to me by Brian overnight, so this is good news indeed. He obviously has access to the internet via his laptop and is now well enough to send me items for inclusion on his blog.

When Brian is not available or not well enough to modernise his blog, he trusts me to keep it "fresh and updated" with current national and international news, but this is great that Brian seems to be recovering well enough to perform these tasks.

As Tim and Gilly reminded us a couple of days ago, Brian is doing fine physically (other than the 'usual' leg ulcers issue) and continues to make progress with speech. 

They are waiting for a virus on the ward to clear (Brian hasn't had it thankfully) before he can be moved to the hip rehab ward where he'll probably need two, or maybe three, weeks before coming home. 

The speech therapist is seeing good progress, although there is still work to do. Brian can now sit up in a chair which is good for his mobility and also access to the internet to update this blog of his.

Yes, wars and rumors of wars abound all the time in the Middle East between the sovereign nation of Israel and any number of their relentless Muslim enemies. I believe Israel understands that neutralizing them now will be a whole lot more palatable than going to war with them in  2-3 years from now. But either way, things have escalated to the point where war likely cannot be avoided. Just one generation ago, the world has horrified when newsreels from the Allied Forces liberating Germany shocked the world with raw moving images of Hitler's concentration camps. People watched with jaws scraping the floor as they saw in utter disbelief the mass killing of human beings in gas chambers, ovens, and being shot in large groups. Contrast that with yesterday as New York governor Andrew Cuomo celebrated the legal mass killings of babies up to the moment of birth by lighting up New York City in pink. Let the irony of choosing the color pink, the color that represents a newborn baby girl, sink in for a moment. Governor of New York nixes nearly all protections for preborn babies FROM LIVE ACTION: Sitting with Cuomo as he signed the bill was Sarah Ragle Weddington, the lawyer who represented Jane Roe in Roe v. Wade and the woman whom Roe would later say manipulated her and lied about her in order to convince the Supreme Court to legalize abortion. Roe, whose real name was Norma McCorvey, said Weddington lied about McCorvey having been raped. McCorvey said that Weddington simply needed a vulnerable pregnant woman to help open a court case. McCorvey, who was homeless, fit that bill. Still, Cuomo thanked Weddington for her work in ensuring legalized abortion. Third-trimester abortion will be allowed under the new law when a preborn child is diagnosed with a condition that will cause him or her to die at or shortly after birth. In addition, the new law removes protections for babies born alive after an abortion – -meaning they could be left to die after birth. The law also allows for abortion through all nine months of pregnancy when the mother’s life or health is at risk – which is completely unnecessary, as delivering a live baby via C-section is faster and safer than killing the baby in a two-day late-term abortion. Former abortionist Dr. Anthony Levatino explains in the video below: The new law also allows non-physicians to commit non-surgical abortions and moves the abortion law from the state’s penal code to its health code – which removes any threat of the prosecution of abortionists. Senate Republicans, however, said that change could make it impossible for a woman who loses her preborn child because of an assault to have her assailant prosecuted. Methodist Church Next In Line To Fall As General Assembly Set To Unveil The ‘One Church Plan’ To Include Unrepentant LGBTQ Members by Geoffrey Grider February 23 marks the date for a special session of the General Assembly of the United Methodist Church, a gathering of denominational leaders, bishops, and clergy to deliberate the issue of homosexuality and other sexual perversions present in the church. One by one, we are watching all the Christian denominations bow to the pressure of the LGBTQ Movement. The Presbyterians have already fallen, most of the non-denominationals are lukewarm already, and even some of the Baptist branches are beginning to experience trouble with their Pilot Light. The gospel is just too hard, it offends too many people, and church just cannot grow by preaching Biblical truth. This is exactly what Jesus meant when He gave this Revelation prophecy regarding the professing church to John back in 96 AD about the coming Church of Laodicea. It's here. "And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see." Revelation 3:14-18 (KJV) The end times are indeed upon us, and no, praying for it to "go away" will not work. United Methodist Church Gearing Up For Full and Official Affirmation of LGBTQ FROM REFORMATION CHARLOTTE: A Council of Bishops was asked by the General Assembly in 2016 to begin putting together an LGBTQ inclusion plan for the denomination and in 2018, the One Church Plan was unveiled and has the majority support of the denomination’s bishops. Next month, the plan will officially be voted on and is expected to pass nearly unanimously. It’s no secret that the United Methodist Church has been apostate for years. They do not stand on the Scriptures as their authority nor do they hold to an orthodox view of Christ–to them God is a sin-affirming God who accepts people just how they are without repentance. However, officially, the United Methodist Church currently does not allow the ordination of openly LGBTQ clergy–but that appears to be about to change. The one church plan, touted as “supported by the majority of bishops,” includes several key affirmations of homosexuality and other sexually deviant behaviors as acceptable and normal within the church. According to the website, This plan, preferred by a majority of the Council of Bishops, would remove restrictive language from the Book of Discipline that prohibits same-gender weddings in UMC properties and ordination of “self-avowed practicing homosexuals.” It would add language to protect churches and pastors who choose not to allow same-gender marriages. While there may be some individual local churches who choose not to fully apostatize on the LGBTQ issue, the issue here is a removal of the biblical restriction of sin-infested clergy in the church. In other words, you may be in open rebellion to God and still be fully included and accepted as a leader–both at the local level and the denominational level–so long as your congregation is cool with it. And let’s just be real, if you’re in the UMC, you’re most likely cool with it. The justification for calling the special assembly lies in their faulty theological understanding of God’s holiness and man’s sinfulness. We are aware that Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) persons exist in every nation and every culture in the world, with varying degrees of openness, acceptance, and freedom […] There are, and have been, LGBTQ persons serving at all levels of leadership in the UMC, as laity and clergy. Currently they suffer as they are unable to live into God’s calling on their lives to ordination or to lay leadership.” The idea is that homosexuals “suffer” when they’re not allowed ordination as clergy. But the Scriptures clearly teach that sexual immorality is the judgment of God and not necessarily the cause (Romans 1). The reason they suffer isn’t because they can’t be ordained, it’s because they are in open rebellion to God and God has given them over to a debased mind. READ MORE

Hi Everyone,

Brian is doing fine physically (other than the 'usual' leg ulcers issue) and continues to make progress with speech. 

They're waiting for a virus on the ward to clear (Brian hasn't had it thankfully) before he can be moved to the hip rehab ward where he'll probably need two, or maybe three, weeks before coming home. 

So it's all getting delayed and he's a bit sick of being stuck in a hospital bed but otherwise in good spirits! He's been kept well fed with Gilly's fish pie and the odd Chinese takeaway to save him from NHS meals where possible!

The speech therapist is seeing good progress, although there is still work to do.

They have been getting him into a chair, which is good for mobility and will be able to do much more when he is allowed to move wards (or hospitals) to a Rehab ward once the bug is contained.
